Sokol KV-2 spacesuit

Rescue suit of the Soyuz spacecraft

معروض
The Sokol was a direct consequence of the Soyuz-11 crew's death in 1971 from descent-module depressurisation. It is not an EVA suit: it saves the crew if cabin pressure is lost, weighs about ten kilograms and connects to the onboard ventilation system. A design feature is the soft shell with a V-shaped entry and chest lacing: a cosmonaut puts it on unaided in a few minutes. The model has been in service for over half a century with minimal changes. On display is the suit on a seated mannequin, as in the Kazbek couch.
