It was in the Krechet that the rigid torso with a rear entry hatch first appeared — the very scheme that later became the basis of the Orlan and is still in use. The cosmonaut was to work on the Moon alone, so donning without an assistant was a mandatory requirement.
The suit provided up to ten hours of autonomy, water cooling and reinforced soles for lunar soil. The examples stayed on Earth — the Soviet lunar programme was wound up in 1974.
Kept in the HANGAR-Z reserve; shown on tours of the restricted collection.
